MTD Software Finder is free to use because some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up to a product through one of them, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. We're telling you this clearly because that's what the UK's advertising and consumer rules (the ASA and CMA) require, and because being upfront is the whole point of the site.
The one promise that matters
Commission never changes the ranking, and it neverchanges your price. Results are ordered purely on true annual cost and fit — decided by the engine before any commercial consideration. When a cheaper option exists but doesn't suit your situation, we say so rather than burying it.
How the affiliate links work
When you click a “Visit” button, you pass through a short link on our domain that forwards you to the vendor or to an affiliate network (such as Impact.com) or a direct vendor programme. The network records that the referral came from us so we can be credited if you go on to subscribe. Affiliate links are marked up for search engines as sponsored, in line with Google's guidance.
What it costs you: nothing
You pay exactly the same price you would by going to the vendor directly — and you still get any public offer or discount the vendor is running. The commission is paid by the vendor out of their own marketing budget, not added to your bill.
Not every link earns us anything
Plenty of links on this site are notaffiliate links — for example links to HMRC's software finder, to a vendor's pricing page that we cite as a source, and our internal links. We don't earn from those; they're there because they're useful.
Why you can trust the ranking anyway
The honest answer to “how do I know commission isn't skewing this?” is that the method is open. The engine ranks on the true VAT-inclusive annual cost of the cheapest plan that genuinely fits your income, and uses fit only to break ties — never to promote a higher-paying product.
